With only two weeks remaining in the 2024 NFL preseason, fantasy football has officially arrived. Meaningful games won't begin until the September 5 season opener, of course, but we're smack in the middle of fantasy draft season.

Whether playing in a keeper league, a yearly re-draft league, a dynasty league or a brand-new start-up, managers will have some work ahead of them in the coming weeks.

Choosing who to keep or who to draft early will be among the most pivotal decisions managers can make before the start of the regular season. For many fantasy fanatics, picking the perfect team name isn't far behind.

After all, the only thing better than thumping your fantasy rivals en route to a championship is doing it to have a groan-inducing name etched on a trophy.

Below, you'll find a look at name suggestions based on several categories—from NFL teams and players to the world of music and pop culture—managers can use to bring a some excitement (or eye rolls) to their league.

If you're serious about fantasy football, you may spend hours researching players, preseason trends, mock drafts and depth charts to maximize value in each round of your draft.

The goal is to craft a roster that is better than all the rest and, in doing so, uniquely yours.

Managers should take a similar approach to naming their fantasy squad. The traditional rules can apply—take a player or team name, combine it common phrase, movie or music title and stir—but it's more fun if the name is instantly recognizable as yours.

There's just something satisfying about knowing your opponents don't have to click on the manager tab to know who they're up against.

With this in mind, it can be beneficial to spin up a name that plays on your personal interests, profession or an inside joke among your peer group. Are your league-mates well aware of your childhood obsession with a certain sci-fi spoof film? They'll probably understand the decision to call your team "May Jim Schwartz Be With You."

Do you have a well-known love of classical music? "Amon-Rachmaninoff" could be the perfect team name for you.

There's nothing wrong, of course, with going the traditional route and centering a team name around one of your key players—especially in dynasty leagues, where they'll likely remain rostered for years. So feel free to name your team after a young ascending star like C.J. Stroud (Pump up the Stroud), Jahmyr Gibbs (Baby Back Gibbs) or Malik Nabers (Howdy, Nabers).

The most important thing is to find a name that pleases you. If all goes according to plan, it's going to become a little piece of fantasy history.
