Tip: When someone joins your family group, you’ll get an email notification.
- Go to g.co/YourFamily.
- Select Send invitations.
- Enter your family member's email address.
- Select Send.
Remove someone from your family group
If you're the family manager, you can remove people from your family group in several ways.
Important: Children require supervision, if they're below 13 years old (or the applicable age in your country).
- To remove a child below 13 years old (or the applicable age in your country) from your family group, you must either delete the child’s supervised Google Account or transfer supervision to another parent.
- To remove a supervised user who's above the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your country) from your family group you must stop supervision for that user. That user can later choose to start supervision again.
To remove any other user from your family group:
- Go to g.co/YourFamily.
- Select the family member you want to remove.
- Select Remove member Remove.
What happens when you remove someone from your family group
The person you remove from your family group:
- Keeps their Google Account and any content on their device purchased with the family payment method.
- Can't make new purchases with the family payment method, or access any services your family group shares.
- Gets an email alert when they're removed.
- Loses access to anything in your Family Library.
- Loses access to your shared storage if your family shares a Google One membership.
- If they’re out of storage, their files stay safe but they can’t store new things. Learn what happens when they run out of space.
- Loses access to extra member benefits and Google experts.
If the person you want to remove:
- Made a purchase with the family payment method and it’s already in process: You're still charged, but you can request a refund for unwanted or accidental purchases.
- Added content to the Family Library: If you set up a Google Play Family Library, any content they added is removed and other family members lose access to that content.
Delete your family group
Important: In order to delete your family group, you must first transfer supervision of any children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) in your family group or delete the child's supervised Google Account, and for a supervised user who's above the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your country) you must first stop supervision.
If you're the family manager, you can delete your family group.
- Go to g.co/YourFamily.
- Find and select Delete family group.
What happens when you delete your family group
Important: Once you delete a family group, you can't restore it.
- Adults and supervised users above 13 (or the applicable age in your country) in your family group keep their Google Accounts and any content on their device they purchased with the family payment method.
- If your family members made a purchase with the family payment method and it's already in process, you're still charged, but you can request a refund for unwanted or accidental purchases.
- If you set up Google Play Family Library, everyone from your family group loses access to the Family Library content that other family members added.
- If you subscribed to a family plan like YouTube Premium or Google One, your family loses access to that service.
- If your family shares a Google One membership, your family loses access to the shared storage.
- If your family members run out of storage, their files stay safe but they can't store new things. Learn what happens when they run out of space.
- Everyone from your family loses access to extra member benefits and Google experts.
- If you delete your family group, you can only create or join another family group once in the next 12 months.
