Wow! This looks fun!
Sounds like just a silly event to play, get done, and delete the "new, """""improved""""" launcher from my pc because literally no one willingly plays skyblock!

hahahahah just ****ing kidding this event is garbage

If Mojang partnered with hypixel and re-released the abandoned PTL games, you would've gotten a better result. Because yes, there will be lag. The games are half baked.
But at least it's not on bedrock. And you could TALK. Did you know the chat is disabled on the MCC server? additionally, you can't use custom skins that aren't the **** you buy on the marketplace.
You like your skin, right?

No, actually, please use the default ****ty skins we made. We spent a lot of effort on them!!!

okay, this is just visual being bad. I mean surely there isn't a big issue where sometimes **** just fails to load and ends up with random blank skins (honestly i prefer this to the ****ty cosmetics loading because christ y'all are making the **** badlion sells look good.)

no people arent usually amorphous blobs of pink goo. The banner in the back also got hit by the bug i guess.

but enough of the visual stuff. for real this time. let's also ignore the lag and random crashing

(i also got hit by this one of the minigames was just not playtested i guess. also if your textures bug out you might not be able to respawn because the button will be engulfed in the amorphous pink goo.)
let's talk about the fact games are just... not playtested?

Let's talk about the minigame where you fight mobs by shooting them.

safespots take five seconds to find and they're EVERYWHERE. also enjoy this horrible skin i am stuck with.
the game also has no progression, you just... get ennemies that deal more damage. And crash if you go too far. Not enough memory to reach the end I guess.
there are three other minigames, sands of time where you explore a maze full of ennemies that have no chance of ever killing you, parkour, coins and sand to refill your timer. this one's okay.
You have ace race which is just... a race that would probably take a few minutes of effort to recreate on a housing/skyblock island
and finally, grid rushers where you complete random objectives.

A good way to handle the goals would've been to keep the bottom five, which are just requiring a semi-competent completion of each minigame and a daily puzzle.
But no. We gotta milk playtime. So let's have 15 goals! That are pointlessly grindy and just worsen the experience playing the minigames.
Because yes! I sure enjoy this minigame after multiple runs farming ennemies because the game keeps crashing on me!

You earn a bedrock cosmetic for each task which i'm pretty sure no one is gonna use because they're quite bad to be honest.
I should mention the beanies look like ass too. And you're gonna have to randomly wander around the main hub because there's nothing that actually tells you where the shop is.

oh also the minigames you have to play in teams are buggy and half of the time the game you queued in glitches out meaning you have to wait out the queue again...

working game.

So yeah if you have 2-3h to waste on a cape download the bedrock launcher and play this awesomely designed event by very competent people that know what they're doing.
Hopefully for 20 years they'll do it with hypixel. Because the games will still be buggy, lag will still make shooting arrows a pain, but at least you'll be able to talk and not look like a bot.

Ps : they suck at protecting their own stuff against datamining btw

but that's honestly par for the course from Mojang, these guys are great at preventing stuff from leaking.

You have plenty of valid criticisms. Though, I want to offer some things for you to consider, if you haven't already:

Developing a server on Bedrock may be harder than it is on Java
Keep in mind that this server is meant to function on Console, Mobile, Windows 10, and Windows 11. Unlike MCC and MCCI, this server is not Java exclusive. Also note that Bedrock relies on C++ (afaik) whereas Java Edition obviously runs on Java. I would venture to guess that most developers at Noxcrew (who likely spearheaded the development of this server) have most of their experience working with Java, and not so much C++, since Java is the language for both MCC and MCCI... and most likely not C++.

You probably aren't the target audience
I'm assuming this server is meant primarily for people who enjoy the MCC event itself and not so much for people who want to get a free cape in 4 hours or less. The event is open for around two weeks, so 4 hours is not too much for people who play the server casually and aren't playing just for the cape. Looking at it this way, it seems pretty reasonable that they included the number of challenges that they did.

Your experience may be different from others
I, for one, did not encounter the same kinds of bugs or glitches as you did. I didn't run into the pink visual glitch or whatever, among other bugs or glitches you mentioned. There's a pretty high likelihood that not everyone playing the server will face the same problems as you did (but some still might). It sucks that those bugs exist at all, but I would be careful about generalizing this experience to everyone or most people who will take part in this event.

This is the first day of the event
Maybe Noxcrew will iron out some of the bugs and issues with the server as time goes on. It may become more "worthwhile" for someone to get the cape (if that is the only reason they're playing at all) after Noxcrew fixes things up.

The mcc event sucks and the new cape isn't worth your time (2024)
